New Leadership for District 3

As the son of a union lawyer and high school teacher, the values of community service were instilled in Danny from an early age.

In an election year, many people have appeared for the first time and some candidates have moved to District 3 just to run for office. But Danny doesn’t see our neighborhoods as political stepping stones. He has been showing up for our community for over a decade. District 3 deserves someone who knows these neighborhoods and is ready to deliver results.

This moment calls for new leadership from the community, not the connected. If elected, Danny would be the youngest member of the Board of Supervisors and one of only two renters on the entire Board of Supervisors. He would also be one of the few members on the Board with small business experience.

10+ Years of Work in District 3

  • Started the North Beach Farmers Market

Danny led the effort to start the North Beach Farmers Market, a community space that has enriched our community for the past 7 years. Danny currently serves as the Market Manager and organizes vendors, events, and live music and arts.

  • A Champion for Chinatown

Danny has always shown up for Chinatown and our API community: taking Cantonese classes for the past 5 years, marching against Anti-Asian hate, and leading the effort to open a new computer lab in Chinatown. It's why Danny has such strong support from API leaders and organizations.

  • Taking Safety Seriously

Danny has been organizing merchant walks with Central Station for years to build community trust. He's organized public safety town halls and has been a vocal advocate for hiring more bilingual police officers to serve our diverse communities.

  • Supporting our Neighborhoods

During the pandemic, Danny worked with neighbors to start a free restaurant delivery service that supported 50+ small businesses. And he's organized community cleanups for years to keep our neighborhoods clean.

  • Small Business Advocate

Danny led the community charge to allow El Farolito to open in North Beach and he attracted Grocery Outlet to the old Safeway on Bay Street. Danny also led a vacancy study in North Beach which is credited with helping spur legislation to fill up empty storefronts.

  • Supporting our Community Centers

As the Executive Director of Neighborhood Centers Together, Danny works with TEL HI Neighborhood Center in North Beach and Cameron House in Chinatown. He has grown programs to serve youth and seniors, particularly for low-income families and monolingual immigrants.

A"stellar candidate" who is "supremely qualified."

"Danny Sauter, by contrast, has quietly put his head down and worked for years to make life better for district residents.”

Let’s get our city back on track.

Safer Neighborhoods

Danny will hire more first responders, from police officers to 911 dispatchers, and make sure they are responsive to our diverse communities to keep us safe.

Clean Streets

Danny will add 1,500 new trash cans, create new street cleaning teams, plant more trees, and make sure we take vandalism and graffiti seriously. Read his clean streets plan.

More Housing and Renter Protections

Danny will make it easier and faster for new homes to be built, bringing down the cost of living for all of us. As a renter himself, Danny will always fight to protect rent control.

Treatment, Not Tents

Danny will expand conservatorship for those who need mandated mental health treatment, arrest and incarcerate drug dealers, and lower barriers to accessing recovery.
